Communicating with tenants

Propero drafts receipts, reports, and maintenance updates, then hands them to your own Mail or Messages app. There's no in-app tenant messaging.

Propero has no in-app tenant messaging. Your tenants don't have Propero accounts, so there's nothing to message them through inside the app.

Instead, wherever you can contact a tenant, Propero drafts the content, a subject, a body, sometimes a PDF, and hands it straight to your phone's own Mail or Messages app, addressed to the tenant's stored email or phone. You send it from there, as yourself, from your own inbox or number.

Where you can reach a tenant

FromWhat it sends
Property hub's Tenancy cardA blank email or text to the lead tenant, subject pre-filled with "Regarding [address]"
Lease Overview's tenants listThe same Email/Message pair for any named tenant on the lease, not just the lead
Send Receipt to Tenant, after recording a rent paymentA rent receipt PDF, generated on your device, attached to a pre-written email (or text, if Mail isn't set up) to the lead tenant
Share or Send to Tenant, on a condition reportThe report PDF, either through iOS's general share sheet or straight to the lead tenant with pre-written wording
A maintenance request's quick actionsCall dials the tenant directly; Email sends a pre-written update on the issue, or the scheduled appointment time if one's booked

After you book a maintenance appointment, Propero also prompts "Let your tenant know the time?" with a one-tap Email tenant option.

Email or Message only shows up when it can work

The Email button needs a tenant email address and a Mail account configured on your phone. The Message button needs a tenant phone number and a device that can send texts. If neither is available, the button (or the whole pair) simply doesn't appear. Receipts and reports fall back from Mail to Messages automatically when there's no Mail account configured but the tenant has a textable number.

It's from you, not Propero

Propero never sends anything on your behalf from its own inbox. Every email or text opens in your Mail or Messages app first, so your tenant sees it come from your own address or number, and you get to edit it before it sends.

The native Mail composer opened from Propero, pre-filled with the tenant's address, subject, and body

A maintenance update, drafted by Propero and handed to Mail. Everything is editable before you hit send, and the Sent from my iPhone signature is your own.
